Overview

Signal bars lie. You can have four bars on 4G and still watch a message hang. Network Scout tells you the truth. Open it, walk around your house or building, and it quietly measures your actual network quality at every spot.

Every 500ms it reads the signal strength in dBm, the network type and the carrier. Every two seconds it fires a tiny ping to measure real latency. Together they make a live score from 0 to 100, and the app remembers the best spot it found.

It is built with Flutter and Dart, ships as an Android APK, and uses almost no data: each ping is about 1 to 2KB, so thirty minutes of scanning costs under 2MB.

Highlights

  • •A live 0 to 100 score from real ping latency and signal strength.
  • •Real dBm readings, not carrier bars.
  • •Best spot tracker, plus a two minute graph of your signal as you move.
  • •Shows the carrier and network type, from 2G to 5G.
  • •The background shifts green, amber or red with signal quality, and the phone buzzes when it finds a new best spot.
  • •Ultra low data use compared with speed test apps.
